When XL Construction bought two adjacent concrete buildings to house their new corporate headquarters, they asked AAi to gut and build out the interior and renovate the exterior. In essence, the design challenge was to transform two industrial buildings into a single commercial building. For the exterior renovation, we replaced the roll-up doors with a pattern of windows to unite the two buildings, and we converted the former loading dock into a bi-level lobby. In addition, we designed an exterior monument and canopy to define the new entry.
