Medtronic (formerly Kyphon) specializes in balloon technology for orthopedic applications. The company retained AAI to provide design services for the renovation of both the interior and exterior of their new facility. The key objective of the exterior renovation was to give the company's two adjacent buildings a unified campus look and feel. AAI, introduced a cohesive color scheme, added an arbor trellis and walkway to connect the two buildings, designed a prominent main entry, and provided unifying hardscaping and landscaping. To draw attention to the main entrance, AAI designed a landmark architectural element with an abstract representation of human vertebrae--the focus of Medtronic's work--monument signage, and Medtronic's signature colors.
